Every year, GadellNet hosts a Christmas party for our entire company in St. Louis near our headquarters. The first year we decided to have a Christmas party, there were three people in attendance. This year, with employees and spouses, we had more than 90 people attend.
It was a great night of celebrating another great year. It was also a time to reflect on how far we have come. GadellNet started as one man who dreamed of coming up with an IT company that made an impact and now we support 55 mortgages, help put 20+ kids in dance lessons or football camps and the like, and contribute to the communities where we live and work.
In the spirit of our Top 10 Blogs, we created a Top 10 for the year 2016:
- 350 Computers Donated
Over the course of 2016, GadellNet was able to give back to the communities where we live and work in a big way. We donated over 350 computers to organizations and individuals who needed them. From single mothers now able to go back to school, to elementary students learning about how to build a computer, we know the machines we donated had a huge impact on individuals and families.
- Our Awards
In 2016, we were awarded the Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Companies Award for the fourth year in a row, the St. Louis Business Journal 25 Fastest Growing Companies for the second year in a row, the MSP Mentor Top 501 MSP Companies for the third year in a row and the CRN Next Gen Top 250 MSP companies for the third year in a row. From growing to being the top in our space, we have awards for it all. These awards are a great tribute to the people who work so hard to make GadellNet great and the clients who make it all possible.
This year, we rolled out a new flagship product: Guru Sentry. Gurusentry is a complete security package for our clients. This proactive cybersecurity monitoring and solution-based product was something our team worked toward for a long time – up until its inception, we struggled to give clients the peace of mind that they were doing all they could to support the effort to reduce their cyber liability – but this product solves that challenge at a small business price point.
- Our Clients are Growing!
We support our clients – we empower them to be successful through technology. While we measure success in so many ways internally, contributing to the success and growth of our clients means that we are living our mission. In 2015, our clients grew an average of 14%, this year it appears that they will be growing at 8%. There’s very few things that make me more proud to know we are, in some part, helping support the economic development of the cities we serve.
- 22 new Employees
To keep up with all of our new clients and new products and services, we added 22 new employees. It was no easy feat. Our hiring process is now down to a science, but we have very specific criteria when it comes to a new member of the team. With a 97% retention rate with our employees – while we aren’t perfect, we set a high standard for how we take care of our team. We welcome all of our new team members and look forward to seeing how they too will learn and grow with our company.
- Adding to the Family
This year, we added to what we call the GadellNet Extended Family. Throughout our company, we added 7 new children with 6 babies and one adopted toddler. We also had two engagements, a few weddings, and an employee became a grandfather! With so much joy and so many wonderful life events to celebrate, 2016 was a great year on a personal note for so many GadellNet team members.
- Our Employees are transformers
Our internal Transformer Award was given out monthly in 2016. This peer-voted award uncovers the employee who has brought the most transformation to our company both internally and for our clients. These individuals do so much to make sure GadellNet is always at the top of its game. These are employees who really own their role and want to see the whole company succeed. We are glad to have recognized their hard work and dedication.
- We throw great parties
We try to get our team together in some way that isn’t work related at least a few times a year. We have had Halloween parties, cookouts, poker nights, and of course, our Christmas party. We love getting together socially to strengthen our team bond. We believe that people don’t care what you think until they think you care, and these gatherings are a great way to remind our internal team that we all care. We care about our company, our clients, each other, and the common threads that connect us.
- Our team work is strong
We use what we call, “Cheers for Peers.” This is a place where you can write a note recognizing another team member on an awesome job. We had over 2,667 cheers given out over the course of the year and here are a few:

“For an evil twin, you’re pretty helpful and stuff.”
“You just get it, our values come so easily to you. I appreciate that.”
“Drew, your attitude is simply infectious, and I just want to take a moment to say thank you.”
- 34% Response Rate on Surveys
One way we measure our own success is to have clients fill out surveys. We let them assign us a level of excellence and leave a note if they so choose. This year, we received 4,654 Gold Stars, the highest level of excellence within the organization. That means there were more than 4,000 times when a client went out of their way to fill out a survey and let us know we did a great job. Here are a few of those comments left behind:
