There’s a new kid in the tech town and its name is Microsoft Teams.  Ok, so technically Teams had its first birthday this past March, but since it has debuted it has taken collaboration to a whole new level.  Straight from Microsoft’s mouth, Teams is the new chat-based workspace in Office 365. Microsoft Teams is an entirely new experience that brings together people, conversations, and content—along with the tools that teams need—so they can easily collaborate to achieve more.  Here at GadellNet, we have been using this new tool since Q4 of last year and we have been loving it.  We love it so much that we thought we would give you 5 reasons why you should think about giving it a try too:

  1. It’s a one-stop shop – Teams takes file sharing, voice connectivity, instant messaging, collaboration and rolls it all into one.  SharePoint and OneDrive are integrated into Teams and you can access all of your files from one place and share them through instant messages or to a Teams’ page.  You can even schedule meetings, chat, have a video call all from within Teams so you can stay focused on one application at a time.
  2. Collaboration is key – You can create a Team and invite whoever you would like within your organization and collaborate in real-time.  No need to send multiple emails or live in your email inbox.   You can chat, share files, provide status updates all in one place.  You can see how a Detroit-based small business used it to streamline communication.
  3. It can replace tools you are possibly paying out of pocket for – Yep, it can replace tools that you are possibly paying for such as Slack and a file sharing solution.  It actually takes Slack and your file-sharing solution and rolls it into one application.
  4. It’s most likely already included in your subscription – Microsoft is so committed to Teams that they are including it with the following subscriptions, which could save your organization money:
    1. Business Essentials
    2. Business Premium
    3. Enterprise E1, E3 and E5 subscriptions
    4. Existing E4 subscriptions
  5. It’s only going to get better – Microsoft is committed to this product and has released their roadmap for the product here.  In fact, some of these features will be coming Q2 of this year:
    1. Broadcast Meetings
    2. Cloud Reporting
    3. PowerPoint Load and Share
    4. Whiteboard and Meeting Notes
