Apple has recently released security updates for most of its platforms which include fixes for security vulnerabilities that Apple says may have been actively exploited in the wild.

GadellNet has already pushed the update to all applicable MacOS devices under our management.  We strongly encourage anyone with an iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, or personal Mac to update them as soon as possible.

As a general rule: updating your Apple devices when new OS updates are available takes little time and effort, and ensures your devices remain protected from external threats.

In this case, the zero-click vulnerability allowed attackers to send a maliciously crafted PassKit (Wallet) image to a target via iMessage, infecting their device “without any interaction from the victim.”

The vulnerabilities affect the following products: MacOS, iOS, iPadOS, and WatchOS.

Users of affected products are advised to update to the latest versions immediately:

  • macOS Ventura 13.5.2 for macOS Ventura
  • iOS 16.6.1 for iPhone 8 and later
  • iPadOS 16.6.1 for iPad Pro (all models), iPad Air 3rd generation and later, iPad 5th generation and later and iPad mini 5th generation and later
  • watchOS 9.6.2 for Apple Watch Series 4 and later
