After almost a decade of support, Windows 10 will reach its end of life in October 2025. Workstations that are not already running Windows 11 will need to be upgraded (or replaced entirely if the hardware does not support Windows 11). Read on to learn more about Windows 10 end of life, and what GadellNet will do to support and secure its partners.

What Does “End of Life” Mean?

When Windows 10 reaches its end of life (EOL), it means that Microsoft will no longer provide updates, security patches, or technical support for that version. To protect your organization, it’s time to plan your strategy for upgrades or replacements.

Important Information About Windows 10 EOL:

  1. Timeline: Windows 10’s EOL is set for October 2025. After this date, no further updates will be released.
  2. Security Risks: Threat actors target outdated operating systems—it’s like an unlocked front door to your business’ data. Without regular updates and security patches, your system becomes increasingly vulnerable to security threats.
  3. Compatibility: As Windows 10 no longer receives technical support, newer applications and hardware will not be optimized for it. Future advanced tools and solutions may not be an option for your organization because of an outdated operating system.
  4. Migration Options:
    • Upgrade to Windows 11: If your current device is compatible, GadellNet will help you upgrade it to Windows 11.
    • Replace your Device: If your current device is not compatible with Windows 11, you will need to purchase a new device(s).  Since Microsoft will continue to support Windows 10 until October 2025, there is ample time to identify affected devices and create a budget to support your needs.

How is GadellNet going to help?

  1. Assessment & Compatibility Check: We will conduct a thorough analysis to catalog your hardware. Then, we will complete an assessment to determine upgrade readiness and replacement needs.
  2. Machine Upgrades to Windows 11: We will schedule a seamless transition for compatible machines from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
  3. Client-Centric Planning Roadmap: In collaboration with your organization, we will tailor a plan to align with your operational demands and budget.
  4. Staged Replacement Deployment: To minimize operational interruptions, we will work with you to create a refresh plan that staggers new workstation deployments based on the number needing to be replaced.
